Waterslides, Legos, Animals, and Ice Skating. That pretty much summarizes our month of November. And it was definitely the busiest one that we’ve had since we made the decision to sell everything to travel the world. In fact, we’re still trying to catch up with all the content that we generated, so stay tuned for a few more YouTube videos and adventure summaries!
This month really cemented the thought that full time family travel is going to be a VERY busy endeavor. We’re incredibly excited to start Jetsetting around the world, but understand that we also need to develop routines, especially for the kids. It’ll be important to learn to balance the joy of travel itself, with the responsibility to share our experiences with you all. After all, we want you to be a part of our journey, so any suggestions or feedback along the way are very welcome!
With that, let’s get onto what we were up to this month!
Cancun Experience Officer (CEO) Search
We focused this month on putting together an application to be Cancun.com’s CEO! This 6 month position consists of essentially being a travel ambassador for Cancun and the surrounding region. The CEO is responsible for highlighting the multiple activities, resorts, cuisine, and cultural sites available in Cancun. We’re honored and excited to have an opportunity to compete for this position, and feel free to check out our application and vote for us here!
Snowland at the Great Wolf Lodge
We had the opportunity to attend the opening festivities for the “Snowland” event at the Great Wolf Lodge in Colorado Springs. And it. Was. AWESOME!
The Great Wolf Lodge is a resort packed with family friendly activities. From the huge indoor water park, to the interactive MagiQuest adventure, to many more events and games, you definitely will be occupied for as long as you stay. For more info on our stay at the Great Wolf Lodge, you can check it out here.
Thanksgiving in San Diego
My parents and sisters live in San Diego, so it was great to be able to take a week, visit them and explore this beautiful city as a family. It had been a few months since we’ve been able to see them. We’re glad we could spend time with family, especially since it’ll be harder to do so once we start our full time travel journey.
We also were able to spend a day at Legoland California, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, and take part in the Hilton Bayfront’s Holiday by the Bay festivities. By the end of our weeklong stay in San Diego, we were definitely exhausted, but glad to have experienced so much!
Nora’s Birthday
Our little sweetie turned 2 this month, and it has gone by way too fast! Nora is thrilled to experience new things every day. She’s also constantly learning new words, both in English and Spanish. We love that she’s a happy, curious, adventurous, and sassy girl and can’t wait to watch her grow, learn, and see the world. Happy Birthday Nora, we love you!
Statistics
This month we continued to see steady growth on Instagram. We try to post every day, utilize hashtags, and most importantly, engage with our community! We made a goal to try to get 10,000 followers by the time we leave, and we’re well on our way to meeting that 😊.
As for the blog, Facebook and YouTube, we saw very little growth (and even a decline on the blog because we didn’t have any new posts this month). We spent the majority of this month traveling and collaborating, so we didn’t put up very much content on those sites. We’re finishing up December and starting January with a big emphasis on YouTube and the blog, so a few more posts are on the way!
Coming Up Next Month
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! This will be our last Christmas at “home” before starting our full time travels next summer, so it’s definitely bittersweet. Will we decorate the house one last time or will we sell our decorations so others can use them? We’ll see!
We’re also going to be taking a holiday trip during the last week of December, so stay tuned for more stories from where we’re going!
We have big plans to provide A LOT more content for the blog starting in January. We’ll be 6 months away from departing, so we want to be able to be transparent about our planning process. How are we deciding on which destinations to visit? What stuff are we taking with us? What are our travel, family, and individual goals for the year? Ultimately, we want to demonstrate that an adventurous family lifestyle is not only achievable, but very enjoyable as well. We hope you come along with us for this epic adventure!
Finally, we wanted to express our gratitude to all of you. Without your support, encouragement, feedback, and criticism, we wouldn’t be as confident about our decision as we are now. Thank you for allowing us to form this community, and know that if there’s anything that you need from us to accomplish your family travel dreams, we’re more than happy to support as best we can. Happy Holidays and best wishes on an amazing start to 2018!
